For many libraries, LibGuides has become the primary platform for delivering content and information to patrons and users. The recent upgrade from Bootstrap 3 CSS framework to Bootstrap 5 introduces a number of new options for ensuring effective and aesthetically pleasing delivery of library information.

Join us for this Learning Lab to hear how Timothy R. Wilson, Digital Initiatives Librarian at the University of Georgia Law Library, navigated the Bootstrap 5 upgrade, backed by his expertise as a librarian and developer. He'll show how libraries can use available resources (like LibGuide's built-in Bootstrap 5 Transition Tool!) to prepare their LibGuides sites for migration.

This 1-hour presentation will cover:

  • Overview of LibGuides + Bootstrap 5
  • Upgrades and enhancements that improve accessibility
  • Features that help create more dynamic and engaging content
  • Librarian-tested tips for a smooth Bootstrap 5 transition
  • Time for Q&A

Timothy R. Wilson is the Digital Initiatives Librarian at the University of Georgia Law Library, where he administers their LibGuides, manages the library's digital collections, and develops projects to enhance the delivery of electronic services to the library's patrons. He is formerly the Digital Collections and Scholarly Services Law Librarian at FIU College of Law. In addition, he has worked as a front-end developer in both the public and private sectors, building websites and creating front-end solutions for various platforms and technologies. Outside of his technical work, he has experience teaching English as a second language, which he did in Prague, Czech Republic for over 5 years. He is passionate about language learning and can speak fluent Russian and passable Czech.
