Learning Lab: Study Rooms without Walls with LibCal Appointments

About:

As a result of social distancing guidelines necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Barry Law Library closed their physical study rooms for much of the 2020 school year. An integral part of the law school experience is being able to discuss topics and work together, so students overwhelmingly expressed the desire to continue to meet to study and collaborate. With the hope of being able to fill this need, they set out to create a place where students could safely meet as a group. Through some trial and error, and help from Springshare, they were able to create Virtual Study Rooms which their students could reserve to meet online. This enabled them to continue to benefit from being able to study and work together while following guidelines and remaining safe.

Diana Botluk, Associate Director; Megan Humphries, Access Services Librarian; and Rachel Parks, Head of Technical Services, will join us to tell us about their virtual study rooms.
